Inter Milan 5-0 Shakhtar: Romelu Lukaku scores twice to send Nerazzurri to EL final

Inter Milan are through to the Europa League final after beating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0.

A brace from talented 22-year-old striker Lautaro Martinez, a brace from Romelu Lukaku and a header from Danilo D'Ambrosio set up a final clash with Sevilla on Friday.

Twenty four hours after losing their semi-final to Sevilla, Manchester United fans had to watch on as former players Lukaku, Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez made the final.

Lukaku, who has now scored 33 goals for Inter this season, played 90 minutes and scored for a TENTH Europa League match in a row.

The striker's first was a good finish after Martinez's pass.

His second was an incredible solo goal as he outpaced the defender and finished with his right foot.

The Red Devils had 46 shots against Copenhagen in their quarter-final and Sevilla in their semi-final but could only score with two Bruno Fernandes penalties.

Meanwhile, Young started at left wing-back and lasted 66 minutes before he was replaced by Cristiano Biraghi with Inter 2-0 ahead.

Sanchez remained on the bench for the match as he recovered from an ankle injury.

But how has Lukaku gone from a scapegoat at Man Utd to a world-class goalscorer at the San Siro?

Well, former United striker Robin van Persie believes it's down to one thing - happiness.

"He [Lukaku] looks happy, Conte works his players very hard – [Stefan] De Vrij once told me that pre-season is very hard," Van Persie said. "You can see that they are acting as one.

"He made the right choice; he's got his confidence back. He's having a great time, he looks happy. Based on his last years at Manchester United, he wasn't, so he found his happiness again."

Lukaku could round off a perfect debut season in Milan by winning the Europa League when they face Sevilla on Friday.

Sevilla defenders will be shaking in their boots at the thought of facing him...
