The Premier League fixtures have been released and we can’t wait for the new season to start.

It seems only yesterday that the 2019/20 campaign finished and yet we’re just 23 days until the opening weekend.

Some fans get giddy with excitement at the release of the fixtures as they look at when their side is playing their rivals, look at the Christmas schedule and also their final few fixtures.

Whereas some have the mindset of ‘we’ve got to play every side twice home and away’ and it doesn’t really matter when the fixtures take place.

Here at GIVEMESPORT, we can’t wait for the return of the Premier League.

So much so that we’ve predicted every result in the opening eight gameweeks of the season to help work out how the Premier League table might look after eight matches.

Disclaimer: This is all a bit of fun. We don’t have a crystal ball and we have no idea what is going to happen. Don’t take it too seriously, yeah?

GAMEWEEK 1

Champions Liverpool get off to a winning start against newly-promoted Leeds, while the two other newcomers - Fulham and West Brom - also suffer losses against Arsenal and Leicester respectively. It's worth noting that Burnley vs Man Utd and Manchester City vs Aston Villa won't take place on this weekend but we expect it to be rescheduled at some point in the opening eight weeks.

GAMEWEEK 2

In the biggest match of the second gameweek, Liverpool can only draw 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, City - who lost twice to Wolves last season - earn a point at the Molineux.

GAMEWEEK 3

Liverpool *handshake emoji* beating Arsenal at Anfield early in the season. It's going to happen again, folks. There's a thriller at the Etihad as City edge out Leicester. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Tottenham maintain their decent starts to the season with 2-0 wins against West Brom and Newcastle respectively.

GAMEWEEK 4

United face Spurs in the weekend's biggest match but the two sides cancel each other out. Pep Guardiola gives Marcelo Bielsa a lesson at Elland Road with an emphatic 4-1 win as they set the early pace. There are also wins for Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

GAMEWEEK 5

Liverpool fail to win at Goodison Park again, while City ease past Arsenal. Spurs beat West Ham in a London derby. West Brom get their first win of the season, while Sheffield United's tough start continues.

GAMEWEEK 6

Arsenal draw 2-2 to Leicester and Man Utd get revenge for their FA Cup semi-final loss against Chelsea with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford. Burnley shock Spurs and Liverpool stick three past Sheffield United.

GAMEWEEK 7

After beating Chelsea, United draw 2-2 at home to Arsenal. Chelsea can only manage a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor but Liverpool and Man City pick up three points each. Spurs bounce back, beating Brighton 2-0.

GAMEWEEK 8

Gameweek eight is all about Man City vs Liverpool - and we can't call it. We have it down as a 2-2 draw. Arsenal beat Villa, Chelsea beat Sheffield United and Spurs win again. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's earn a point at Goodison Park.

PREMIER LEAGUE TABLE AFTER 8 MATCHES

p1eg69eoo5hqd32u13r98fesa1r.jpg

So, City lead the way after eight matches with six wins and two draws (against Wolves and Liverpool). Liverpool are two points behind after three draws in their eight games (versus Chelsea, Everton and Man City).

In truth, the top eight has a very familiar look to it but Southampton will be very encouraged to see them just four points off top four in ninth.

Leeds are very much holding their own in 11th with a mixed bag of two wins, three draws and three losses. West Brom will be delighted to be 12th after eight games too.

Surprisingly, Sheffield United - who were brilliant during the 2019/20 season - find themselves bottom after eight matches. In truth, they have a nightmare start with games against Wolves, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City. They will feel they could pick up points against Aston Villa, Fulham or Leeds but we have a feeling they might get off to a slow start. Second season syndrome anyone? We're sure Chris Wilder's side will be safe from relegation come the end of the campaign though.

Fulham are also without a win after eight matches and Newcastle might get off to a slow start as well.

Let's see how wrong we are come November...
