Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is in hot water following an incident on the island of Mykonos in the early hours of Friday morning. It’s emerged that the 27-year-old, who is on holiday in Greece, has been arrested following an alleged altercation with fellow English tourists and the police. In a statement released on Friday morning, United confirmed: "The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night."Contact has been made with Harry and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities. At this time we will be making no further comment."Meanwhile, a police spokesman has said three men rounded on officers when they tried to intervene during a bust-up between two groups of Englishmen outside the Fabrica bar in Mykonos.p1eg8rfc1d12j06931j9aij71qcr9.jpg“When the brawl was all sorted out, one of the two groups - with the football players - started verbally abusing officers. There were several policemen there,” Petros Vassilakis said.“At some point, one of the three members of the group - they were aged 27, 28, and 29 - threw a swing at one of the policemen and a fight ensued.“All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them.“I can't tell you what they were telling us. All English swear words against the authorities and against the work of the police.“All three, including the football player, are being held in custody, locked up in Mykonos cell. They will appear before a state prosecutor on the island of Syros later today to be charged with aggravated assault.”p1eg8rg6lkfd81dek4udhkfrgdb.jpgAt this point, it’s important to note that Maguire has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing.Nevertheless, plenty of Manchester United fans on social media are calling for the club to strip Maguire of the captaincy. They believe that if the allegations are true, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be left with no choice but to hand the captain’s armband to another member of the squad.p1eg8rj8911e01b471kpj1biprr8d.jpgAnd there’s one player in particular who United fans want to replace Maguire as skipper.Bruno Fernandes, who has made a huge impact at Old Trafford following his January move from Sporting Lisbon, appears to be supporters’ number one choice to become the new United captain.p1eg8rla3sr9g1ktt15o9smf1kikf.jpgHere’s a small selection of the many tweets calling for Bruno to take the armband…

And it seems quite a few fans would also like to see Paul Pogba promoted to vice-captain…

This isn’t even the first time this month that United fans have called for Fernandes to replace Maguire as captain.

Last Sunday, following the defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League semi-finals, United fans called for Bruno to take the armband after he scored, blasted Victor Lindelof for some poor defending and conducted the post-match interview.
