Modric agent rules out transfer

Luka Modric's agent has described rumours linking the Tottenham playmaker with a move to Inter Milan as "complete nonsense".

Modric has enjoyed an impressive season at Tottenham, starring in the club's league campaign and also helping the Londoners reach the last eight of the Champions League.

Those performances have seen him linked with a move to some of the continent's biggest clubs including Inter but Modric signed a new six-year contract last summer which he intends to honour, his agent Nikki Arthur Vuksan said. "I have read somewhere that an Italian club has been given permission to speak to Luka but that is not correct."

While Spurs are currently outsiders in the hunt for the fourth Champions League qualification spot, the Italian giants would be able to offer the 25-year-old the certainty of playing in Europe's top club competition next season.

He added: "It is complete nonsense. Luka has a contract until 2016 which he recently signed. He intends to see out that contract and does not want to leave Spurs.

"If someone comes in for him one day and Spurs decide to accept the offer then that is up to them but Luka is very happy at Spurs. The season is going great for him there and hopefully he will be playing in the Champions League again next season."

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the popular playmaker over the last 12 months.

Vuksan admits that Spurs' record signing may not see out the rest of his career at the club, but is sure that their ambition matches his client's.

"It's difficult to say whether he will be there for life but he is enjoying his time there now," Vuksan added.

"He enjoys playing with his team-mates there and the club is going in the right direction."
