WWE's second-biggest event of the year, SummerSlam, took place on Sunday night. This, like every pay-per-view since WrestleMania, was very different from what we've seen in previous years. The on-going coronavirus pandemic means there are still no fans present in the arena but for the first time since March, we saw a PPV take place away from the Performance Center. From now on, WWE will be running shows from their 'ThunderDome' which features a virtual crowd... and a lot of pyrotechnics! In this new setting, SummerSlam did feel special and the action inside the ring lived up to expectation too. Especially when it came to the Universal Championship match which saw Braun Strowman face-off with 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt.

The pair battled in a falls count anywhere match, going to war across the 'ThunderDome'.

Wyatt nearly picked up the win with a Sister Abigail in the Gorilla Position behind the curtain, while Strowman tried to pin his opponent outside of the ring.

Both stars exchanged finishers but couldn't get the pin and the match took an even darker turn when Strowman ripped up the ring mat to expose the wooden canvas.

But it was Strowman who ate two Sister Abigail's on the exposed wood and that was enough for the three count, which crowned The Fiend the new Universal Champion.

Before he could celebrate the win, The Fiend was blindsided by the returning Roman Reigns, who appeared out of nowhere to clean house!

After a six month absence, The Big Dog is BACK in WWE! He attacked both The Fiend and Strowman before lifting the Universal title above his head.

Reigns returned at SummerSlam
