Paris Saint-Germain’s wait for a Champions League victory goes on.They were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in the final on Sunday night, leaving the French side heartbroken. That heartbreak could be seen immediately in the form of Neymar. The world’s most expensive player immediately broke down in tears and was consoled by Bayern Munich’s David Alaba on the final whistle. He then had to be persuaded to go up and collect his runners-up medal and he sat on the PSG bench inconsolable. But when the Brazilian had finally wiped away his tears, he took to social media to send a tweet. However, perhaps he still had tears in his eyes because he made a pretty awkward mistake.Neymar wrote: “Losing is part of the sport, we try everything, we fight until the end. Thank you for the support and affection of each one of you and CONGRATULATIONS to BAYER.”

A lovely message but BAYER?

Does Neymar know he’s just lost to BAYERN and not BAYER?

It was probably just a typo but that didn’t stop Bayer Leverkusen from getting in on the act.

They swiftly replied: “Obrigado @neymarjr. I’m not sure why you congratulate me if I'm on vacation playing FIFA ... but thanks.”

That’s really not going to help him feel any better, lads.

In truth, Neymar will be disappointed with his output during the 90 minutes. He rarely threatened Bayern’s defence and failed to show that he’s finally emerged from the shadow of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Before the match, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claimed Neymar was currently the best player in the world.

“The best player in the world at the moment,” Wenger said before kick-off. “He’s much more efficient. I think he’s at the top of the combination of the physical strengths, the mental strengths and technical ability we know he has since a boy. But he’s much more efficient in his game.”

But, last night, the superstar couldn't manage do what Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have done on many occasions and really make an impact in a Champions League final.
