Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Kai Havertz over the next few days after Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen agreed a fee for the highly-rated midfielder.
Havertz, one of European football’s brightest young talents, will cost Chelsea €100 million.
This is according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, who understands that Chelsea will pay €80 million upfront for the 21-year-old. The final €20 million will be comprised of add-ons.
Havertz has already agreed personal terms with the Blues and will put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract, keeping him tied to Stamford Bridge until June 2025.
The Germany international will team up with fellow new signings Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in west London, while Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell are also expected to arrive from Paris Saint-Germain and Leicester City, respectively.
Chelsea fans are understandably thrilled with the news that Havertz is on his way to play for their team next season.
And one supporter’s funny ‘Kai Havertz Announcement Video’ has gone viral on Twitter.
The video from @CFC_Elites, taken from a superhero movie, shows the likes of Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and manager Frank Lampard all under the cosh from villains including Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Bruno Fernandes.
“There’s too many of them!” Lampard shouts before the cavalry arrive.
The calvary in this instance are new signings Havertz, Ziyech and Werner, who save the day.

Bizarre? Absolutely. But Chelsea fans are all over it…
Havertz won’t be equipped with Thor’s hammer when he finally pulls on a Chelsea shirt, but German football expert Raphael Honigstein has tipped the attacking midfielder to shine in the Premier League.
“He has work to do and has things to prove because he’s only just turned 21, but he’s an outstanding talent, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. He’s in a position where he could dominate the German national team over the next decade, depending on his position,” he told the Transfer Talk podcast, per Sky Sports’ website.
“Will he play in the No 10 role and become the new Mesut Ozil or will he settle a bit deeper and become the new Toni Kroos? He’s got the ability to play almost anywhere in front of the defence.
“If you look at the unique combination he has of technical ability and eye for a pass, but also having the ability to score and create goals himself, and his runs to be good in the air, I think the best way to sum it up is that he’s a cross between Mesut Ozil and Michael Ballack.”
