Celtic romped to a ninth successive SPFL title last season but their attempts to win ten on the trot have taken some big setbacks.
The foolishness of Boli Bolingoli means that the Hoops are now six points behind Rangers after the first few weeks of the campaign.
Gers fans would have bitten your hand off for that sort of advantage after five matches.
However, the good thing for Celtic is that they have two games in hand. Matches with St Mirren and Aberdeen were postponed because of COVID-19 controversies but during that time, Rangers couldn't take the ultimate advantage.
They drew with Livingston last week in a game that could prove costly.
Celtic returned to action at the weekend and secured a 1-0 win over Dundee. An 83rd-minute goal from new signing Albian Ajeti proved to be enough as the Swiss started life in Scotland perfectly.
Remarkably, that was his first strike since July 2019. Crazy stuff.
That will settle the nerves of Nick Hammond who will be eager to see the signings he's put so much hard work into acquiring do well from the off.
However, his efforts in the window aren't done yet with a few more faces due through the door - David Turnbull is at the top of the list at the moment.
Another player who could sign is Atletico Madrid youngster Ricardo Riquelme, a player the Hoops have been targeting since March.
According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), the Bhoys have asked Atletico about signing the 20-year-old.
The winger is also catching the attention of Ajax with the Spanish side now more willing to do a deal because of a restructured league system for their B team.
He currently has a release clause of €30m (£27m).
GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...
Celtic's options in a wide area aren't exactly stacked and concerns about the competition for Ryan Christie have been apparent for a large part of 2020 so far.
Since Scott Sinclair departed, they have lacked someone to play second fiddle and with Karamoko Dembele still only 17, he isn't really ready for first-team football on a regular basis.
Moi Elyounoussi may have been signed on loan again but if you assess the squad that took on Dundee, James Forrest was the only senior wide man they could have brought on.
Christie is an exceptional player for Celtic but if you consider every single cup competition, European excursions and the league as well, he cannot play all the time.
Riquelme has little experience at the top level but at the age of 20, is ready to be tested further. Scottish football would be perfect for his development, as we've already seen for players like Patrick Roberts, a similar type of footballer positionally.
As an added bonus, the youngster knows where the net is too. He beat the goalkeeper on eight occasions last term.
