Bayern Munich are champions of Europe again.

The German club have now won the Champions League six times, with their latest triumph coming on Sunday night against Paris Saint-Germain.

Very few will argue that they aren't worthy champions, having won every single game they played in the competition, all the way through the group stage to the final.

During that run, Hansi Flick's side battered Barcelona, eased past Chelsea and scored 10 times against Tottenham in two games.

Describing the team as dominant doesn't quite do them justice.

But according to Jurgen Klopp, Bayern were 'lucky' to win the Champions League this season. Yes, really.

The Liverpool boss claimed that the treble winners were 'a little lucky that, amid all the chaos with schedules, their schedule was best suited to the Champions League'.

Bayern were lucky, according to Klopp

"It is difficult to write more history in eight months," Klopp told ZDF, per Goal

"Hansi was lucky enough to have done such a good job as assistant coach to Niko Kovac that he was allowed to stay. And that worked quite well.

"Both finalists had an absolutely top team available. But Bayern wanted it more - although Paris wanted it very much. Paris really wanted it, you could see it.

Klopp has claimed Bayern were lucky to win the UCL

"Bayern were lucky, but they didn't need much. And that's why they deserved to win. It would be nice if you could play the best game of the season in a final, it's just very unlikely."

It's certainly an interesting theory from the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

The Bundesliga was the first of Europe's top five leagues to return after the coronavirus pandemic and Bayern had more than a month to prepare for their Champions League fixture against Chelsea.

Bayern battered Chelsea over two legs

Frank Lampard's side, on the other hand, had one week to prepare following their FA Cup final defeat.

While having fresh legs is certainly a factor, there's absolutely no doubt that Bayern were the best team in Europe this season and deserved their sixth Champions League crown.

Sorry, Jurgen.
