It can be hard for football fans sometimes when they see a player at their favourite club earning an awful lot of money without doing a whole lot.

Harry Maguire had some low moments in his debut season at Manchester United, but at least he played in every single minute of the campaign.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Arsenal paid Mesut Ozil £350,000-per-week for just 1,488 minutes of action.

The Gunners were not the only team to not get much back on their investments in 2019/20, though.

BettingOdds.com have carried out a study into every Premier League team’s highest-paid player per minute played, and some of the figures involved are enough to make you want to pull your hair out.

Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, who earns £100,000-per-week, played just 226 minutes in the league. That’s £23,009-per-minute.

Everton will be absolutely delighted to get Niasse off their wage bill.

Paying a player £138,947-per-minute of action is certainly a sign of mismanagement within the club.

The coronavirus pandemic has increased the need for clubs to get it right financially ahead of a potentially slower few years.
