Anticipation at Tottenham is rising. Not because the new season is just weeks away or because it's the transfer window, though.

Next Monday, we'll finally get to watch Amazon Prime's 'All or Nothing' documentary on the club.

It has been a rollercoaster year since the cameras first arrived in north London so it's going to be truly fascinating.

Mauricio Pochettino left, Jose Mourinho has walked through the door and Daniel Levy's funds have been hit hard by COVID-19.

The club had to borrow a loan of £175m from the government a few months ago with the club facing losses of around £200m.

It's unsurprising, therefore, that cheaper deals are having to be concluded by Levy.

The free transfer of Joe Hart was all the evidence you needed that Spurs are operating in a completely different market to the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United this summer.

That hasn't stopped the rumour mill from linking Spurs with some pretty pricey players. At the beginning of the week we saw reports surrounding Wilfred Ndidi.

However, it's another Leicester player that looks closer to joining.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have now opened preliminary talks to sign winger Demarai Gray. It's a strange one.

Gray has been described as a long-term target but Spurs have now stepped up their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

The report states that Jose Mourinho has personally spoken to the player in a bid to try and lure him to London.

The wide man is open to moving after failing to nail down a regular starting place at Leicester and after entering the final year of his deal with the Foxes, could leave on the cheap.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

If Gray wants to leave Leicester behind and join Spurs in search of first-team football then he needs to have a serious rethink.

The attacker has struggled to cut the mustard under Brendan Rodgers and it seems incredibly farfetched to suggest he'd get in the Spurs team.

This is a player who scored just three times last term and has found the back of the net on only ten occasions in 132 Premier League outings.

Tottenham have a plethora of options available to them on the flanks with Son-Heung Min, Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura all competing for places.

Even if one of them departs, Gray would find it difficult to seal regular minutes under Mourinho.

Of course, the lure of potential Champions League football is there but he has just as much chance as achieving that with Leicester as he does with Spurs at the moment.

This is a move that wouldn't suit Gray or Tottenham.
