Let's start off by saying that Murphy isn't an exceptional player. That's evidenced by his shoddy record in the top-flight.
However, he is an adequate Championship footballer which leads us to believe he'd be pretty handy in the SPFL.
He scored nine goals last term and also created five assists for his teammates. He was in breathtaking form towards the back end of the campaign too.
In his final five matches, he racked up four goals and produced two assists from the right wing.
He is approaching his prime and it bodes well that he's beginning to find the net with more regularity.
Speaking about Murphy earlier this season, Sheffield Wednesday stopper Cameron Dawson only had positive words for him.
"He has an absolute hammer foot and I am delighted he showed everybody against Leeds how hard he can strike the ball because normally it is my fingers that take a pounding," he said.
That is enough to sending warning signs to the 'keepers in Scotland. He strikes the ball hard and knows where the net is. If Kent does depart, there's certainly worse replacements.
