Just like that, Leeds have smashed their transfer record out the window.
When rumours first appeared of Rodrigo moving to Elland Road, they were taken with a pinch of salt.
Surely they weren't signing a proven international and Champions League player?
We couldn't have been more wrong.
On Tuesday evening the transfer escalated incredibly. Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta reportedly flew out to conclude a deal in the region of £31m and then later that day, Valencia confirmed an agreement had been reached.
Rodrigo subsequently underwent a medical on Wednesday morning ahead of a truly eye-catching move.
It makes a huge difference to the younger signings Leeds have landed in the window so far.
However, Leeds are now in the market for further recruitments.
The gospel of Phil Hay took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal that Leeds were still in the market for defender Robin Koch.
The German has been linked with a £20m move from Freiburg after the Whites turned their attentions away from Ben White.
However, there has now been a rather promising update on the situation of Koch who appears to be ever closer to following Rodrigo to Elland Road.
Answering a fan on social media who asked for the likelihood of the deal going through, Hay commented:
"Affordable and he fancies it. But there is German interest in him. All the same, Leeds sound confident."
Exciting news indeed.
GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...
At last. Leeds look like they could finally be signing a central defender.
If there was one priority which needed to be ticked off this summer then it was landing a centre-half.
The Yorkshire side are down to the bare bones in defence with Liam Cooper the sole senior centre-back fit at the moment.
Gaetano Berardi is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and White has now returned to Brighton.
Thus, the addition of Koch is simply a no-brainer.
In all honesty, they could have signed anyone this summer, so long as it was a defensive body to bolster their ranks.
However, the 24-year-old has a growing reputation. He's been included in the latest Germany squad and fits the bill as a Marcelo Bielsa-type player.
The former loanee may have been their first choice this summer but Koch is an impressive alternative. He's also far cheaper than the Englishman. Orta has been shrewd here.
