Bayern Munich were crowned champions of Europe for the sixth time in their history last weekend after defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in Lisbon.
The German giants confirmed their status as the best team on the continent right now during the latter stages of the Champions League.
They thrashed Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate during the Round of 16 before inflicting a humiliating 8-2 defeat on Barcelona in the quarters.
They then recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lyon in the semi-finals before seeing off PSG in the final.
PSG had their chances against Bayern but Manuel Neuer produced several wonderful saves to keep his clean sheet intact.
Following Bayern’s latest Champions League triumph, UEFA have updated their club coefficient rankings.
UEFA’s club coefficients are based on the results of clubs competing in the previous FIVE seasons of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
The rankings then determined the seeing of each club in relevant UEFA competition draws.
20. Benfica
Champions League quarter-finalists in 2015-16, Benfica also reached the last eight of the Europa League during the 2018-19 campaign.
19. FC Porto
Benfica’s domestic rivals Porto advanced to the Champions League knockout stages in 2016-17. 2017-18 and 2018-19. They reached the quarters in 2018-19 campaign but lost 6-1 to eventual champions Liverpool.
18. Napoli
Napoli have been ever-presents in either the Champions League or Europa League over the past five seasons. Their best showing was in 2016-17, when they reached the Champions League’s Round of 16 but lost 6-2 on aggregate to Real Madrid.
17. AS Roma
AS Roma have progressed to the knockout rounds of either the Champions League or Europa League in each of the past five campaigns. They came close to reaching the Champions League final in 2018 but lost 7-6 on aggregate to Liverpool.
16. Chelsea
Europa League winners in 2019, Chelsea haven’t managed to advance past the Champions League’s Round of 16 since the 2013-14 season.
15. Lyon
Lyon are up two places to 15th in UEFA’s latest coefficient rankings after reaching the last four of the 2019-20 Champions League.
14. Tottenham
Champions League finalists in 2019, Tottenham have reached the Champions League knockout stages in three successive seasons.
13. Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 2016-17 but haven’t managed to advance past the Round of 16 in the past two seasons.
12. Shakhtar Donetsk
Shakhtar Donetsk jump from 18th place to 12th after they went to the semi-finals of this season’s Europa League campaign.
11. Arsenal
Arsenal were Europa League runners-up in 2019 but haven’t featured in the Champions League since the 2016-17 season.
10. Liverpool
Liverpool have dropped two places to eighth after they were beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16. Jurgen Klopp’s side won the tournament in 2018-19 and were runners-up the season beforehand.
9. Manchester United
Manchester United above Liverpool? That will raise a few eyebrows. The Red Devils spurned a great chance to reach the Europa League final after losing 2-1 to Sevilla in the semi-finals.
8. Sevilla
Europa League winners once again after beating Inter Milan in the final earlier this month, Sevilla climb from 11th place into eighth.
7. Paris Saint-Germain
PSG remain seventh after reaching the Champions League final. The Parisians’ wait for their maiden European Cup continues.

Another European heavyweight with ambitious of winning the Champions League for the first time, Manchester City’s dream may finally come true if they manage to sign Lionel Messi this summer.
5. Juventus
Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 to help them become champions of Europe for the first time since 1996. But even with the Portuguese legend, they haven’t managed to advance past the quarter-finals in the past two seasons. The Italian outfit did, however, reach the final in 2017.
4. Atletico Madrid
Champions League runners-up in 2015, semi-finals in 2016 and quarter-finals in 2020, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid remain one of Europe’s best teams.

They might be in crisis at the moment, but Barcelona remain third in UEFA’s rankings. Where will they be this time next year if they’ve lost Messi?

Real Madrid have ‘only’ managed to reach the Champions League’s Round of 16 in the past two seasons. Zinedine Zidane previously led them to an unprecedented three European Cup triumphs in a row.
