Plymouth manager Peter Reid heaped praise on goalkeeper David Button following the 1-0 win over Dagenham.

The 22-year-old produced a string of fine saves to keep the Daggers at bay before Rory Patterson netted the only goal of the game three minutes after half-time.

Reid claimed Button was "magnificent", and added: "He made two crucial saves in the second half. It was a real good performance from the kid. He's a good goalkeeper, people forget he's inexperienced and learning the trade, but he was terrific."

He added: "John Still's got an effective side, they put you under a lot of pressure, but I thought we defended well. The keeper's made a couple of great saves, but I always thought we were dangerous on the break and Tony Roberts has made a few good saves as well."

Dagenham manager Still admitted his team missed an opportunity to gain three valuable points against one of their relegation rivals.

He said: "It was a big game, but we play big games here all the time. It was a very important game and we've got three more games to try to scratch these points together.

"I thought the first half was a real non-event, there were two nervous teams. I don't think we ever really got going in the first half, they got going a little bit more than us.

"We're disappointed with the goal, we had four in the wall from a free-kick, Abu Ogogo has not done his job, he should have been in the wall and they scored from that.

"We pushed on and pushed them back. We had scrambles, the two best chances of the game fell to John Akinde, if they go in it can be different, but it wasn't and we look to Huddersfield.

However, Still insisted all is not lost, adding: "We've got three big games coming up and I'm looking forward to it because I love big games."
