Liverpool have had an extremely quiet transfer window so far.

No one has arrived, and no major players have departed. Business, as usual, it would seem for the Reds.

However, their pre-season hasn't exactly gone to plan.

They drew 2-2 against RB Salzburg and Joe Gomez was at the centre of controversy after he was involved in a challenge where his opponent broke his elbow.

Liverpool will need to shake off that result against Salzburg quickly. They face Arsenal on Saturday in the Community Shield in a game where they'll be keen to avenge the Gunners for a 2-1 loss a month ago.

On that day, Jurgen Klopp's men were diabolical defensively. They had, of course, already won the Premier League, so this game should be totally different.

That being said, the Gunners are buoyed by an FA Cup success and the arrivals of both Willian and potentially Gabriel.

Whether Liverpool bring in their own new recruits remains to be seen. Either way, it doesn't look like they'll be wanting to spend too much.

One player they've been touted with moving for this summer is Watford's Ismaila Sarr.

The tricky winger was recently relegated with the Hornets and has been valued at a costly £40m.

However, the club's interest in the winger has now been cleared up by Liverpool Echo journalist Paul Gorst.

He was answering questions in a Q&A this week, to which he responded with the following to one supporter:

"Ismaila Sarr I was told recently is definitely someone being looked at. Whether that turns into a formal bid remains to be seen but LFC like him. He's the right sort of profile and has a high ceiling to improve. They could also take advantage of Watford's relegation too."

This would be an interesting addition, particularly because of what he became famous for this season.

Sarr delighted Arsenal fans around the globe by ending Liverpool's chances of going through the entire season unbeaten.

The 22-year-old's stunning performance at Vicarage Road back in February was truly eye-catching as he scored twice and also laid on an assist.

In the process, Sarr took a quite ridiculous six shots on goal and completed two dribbles as well.

Ismaila Sarr vs Liverpool

This was a complete performance from the winger who showed Liverpool first hand what he was capable of.

However, for a fee of £40m, you're wanting more for your money than someone who netted five goals in 2019/20.

Since those two strikes against Liverpool, he has failed to score in ten outings. Klopp and Michael Edwards need to be careful here.
