Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.The defender arrives at Stamford Bridge on a free transfer and is reported to have signed a 12-month deal, with an option to extend for another season.Silva completed his medical in Milan on Thursday and is now expected to fly from Italy to London to begin a 14-day period of self-isolation before joining up with the squad.The 35-year-old becomes Chelsea's SIXTH signing of the summer, joining Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Xavier Mbuyamba, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge.Frank Lampard really isn't messing around, is he?

Silva is said to be everything Chelsea are looking for in a new centre-back, despite being 35.The Brazilian brings leadership qualities and incredible experience following over a decade at the top level - and he should fit right in alongside a young defensive partner.Lampard's side shipped more goals than any other top-half side in the Premier League last season, so improving the defence was a priority for the Blues boss.
