As the days and weeks tick by, Tottenham are making some positive strides in the transfer window.

Firstly, we saw former Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg signed for a fee of £15m.

We then witnessed the arrival of veteran goalkeeper Joe Hart on a free transfer.

However, the club hasn't stopped there.

On Sunday morning, the acquisition of Matt Doherty from Wolves was confirmed. The right-back put pen to paper on a deal worth £12m as Spurs sealed another absolute bargain.

Where he fits in will be interesting to see. After all, in Wolves' system, he's been playing as a right wing-back, as opposed to the full-back role he'll presumably play in for Tottenham.

Either way, he has filled a problem position, one that was met with inconsistencies from Serge Aurier last season.

With that deal done and dusted, Spurs look as though they're planning to sign a left-back too.

According to The Express, the Lilywhites are tracking Watford defender Pervis Estupinan.

You may well wonder who that player is, but that's because he's never played a single game for the Hornets.

Estupinan signed in 2016 but has spent the last four years on loan in Spain with Granada, Almeria, Mallorca and Osasuna.

The Express claims that the 22-year-old is considered one of the best young full-backs in Europe, and Spurs will have to fight off competition from Chelsea and Barcelona to bring him to north London.

The youngster is valued at £13.5m via Transfermarkt

Estupinan is currently set to spend another year on loan at Osasuna.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Just imagine the look on Ryan Sessegnon's face if Tottenham signed the Watford man this summer.

Sessegnon struggled for game time as it was last term - starting just nine matches - so the arrival of another left-side player would not benefit him whatsoever.

Keep in mind the fact that Estupinan can also play as a left-winger and it doesn't bode well for the Spurs youngster.

However, that's not to say that Estupinan would be a bad signing.

He impressed hugely in La Liga last season, registering six assists in league action and dominating a Barcelona side last month.

Pervis Estupinan and Lionel Messi

The Ecuadorian was charged with marking Lionel Messi and despite the Argentine scoring, Estupinan won four aerial duels and made two interceptions. He also got forward with great regularity, laying on an assist in a 2-1 win for Osasuna.

That proves that the full-back has what it takes against some of the best the game has to offer and if Spurs are looking for a left-field signing this summer, few would be better than the 22-year-old.

He has a bright future and is described as a player with "great speed and physical power." What more could you want?
