One of WWE’s biggest and brightest stars has recently opened up about his struggles with mental health.

Braun Strowman, who won the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36, discussed about his battle outside of the ring in a recent edition of WWE Chronicle.

The two-time Raw Tag Team Champion talked about his disillusion with the sport which led to him contemplating suicide in 2019.

“I got to the point where I was on the verge of I had enough,” Strowman said during an interview for the WWE documentary.

During his battle with the illness, Strowman confided in Vince McMahon during a meeting.

“I kind of busted in on Vince one day in a meeting and I was like ‘I need to talk to you’ and he kicked everybody out of the production meeting and he sat down and talked to me.”

The 36-year-old further added: “I’m very thankful to have a relationship with him like that because I might not even be here.”

Strowman in the ring has had a solid 2020, which is a testament to his strength in character.

After first dispatching Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship, he has gone on to win the Universal Championship as a substitute for Roman Reigns and a Money in the Bank battle against Bray Wyatt.

Strowman successfully defended his Universal Championship crown from John Morrison and The Miz at Backlash, before losing the gold to his foe Wyatt last Sunday at SummerSlam, ending his 141 days as World Champion.

He has a chance to win back the title from Wyatt tonight at Payback in a match that will also feature Roman Reigns.

Strowman reflected on his fight with mental health, saying: “That I got to that point, I should have talked to somebody sooner. I never knew how much he cared about me. I thought I was just a number in a system. That day he made me realise that I’m more important than a number I can’t thank him enough for doing that.”

Strowman has showed the importance of talking to someone if you are going through a tough time. With the restrictions that Covid-19 has placed in terms of access to face-to-face services, there is still a number of hotlines that you can call if you find yourself in the same place that Braun found himself in.
