A Croatian midfielder at the base of Tottenham's side has a very nice ring to it. That's because of a certain former Spurs man, Luka Modric.
The duo have established a sensational partnership for the Croatia national team but they now play for two rivals - Real Madrid and Barca.
How Modric fared in north London is no great sign of what Rakitic would be able to achieve but they are certainly cut from similar cloths.
Rakitic is capped a mighty 106 times by his country and has played 310 times for Barcelona.
You don't rack up those sorts of numbers without having a superb career.
Although he might now be out of favour in a dejected Barca team, he still has the respect of his peers.
Former midfielder Xavi waxed lyrical about the Croatian during the 2018 World Cup. "Rakitić is one of the best signings Barca have made in their history. Every day he gets better, he knows how to adapt to what the team needs, and in every moment he lives a footballing maturity that is extraordinary."
Xavi followed that up with similar comparisons to Modric: “He would have been good for Barça also, they are authentic monsters with the ball," he added.
Spurs' midfield is devoid of much control and creativity since Christian Eriksen departed so adding someone of Rakitic's abilities would be no bad thing.
He completed an eye-catching 89.9% of his passes last season so would certainly fit the bill.
