Just like that, things are beginning to look a lot rosier at Celtic.

The last couple of weeks have been an absolute nightmare for Neil Lennon and co.

They fell six points behind Rangers, had two games postponed because of Boli Bolingoli and then they crashed out of Europe at the expense of Hungarian opposition.

This was not how things were supposed to go as they eyed ten in a row.

Fortunately, they returned to winning ways against Motherwell on Sunday.

Albian Ajeti continued his impressive start to life in Glasgow by scoring again while James Forrest and Christopher Jullien also found themselves on the scoresheet.

There was no debut for David Turnbull but his acquisition last week only provides further reason for excitement at Celtic.

Despite his arrival, there are no plans for the Hoops to stop work in the transfer market.

Nick Hammond has been busy this summer and according to reports, they are now on the verge of completing another signing.

According to The Daily Mail, Celtic are poised to land Shane Duffy from Brighton on loan in the coming days.

A loan fee of £2m has been reported, while a significant portion of his £40k-a-week wage will be covered by the Bhoys.

West Ham and West Brom had been interested in signing the centre-back but it looks as though Celtic have won the race with the deal heading towards a 'successful conclusion'.

The 28-year-old has reportedly expressed an interest to play for the Hoops and that desire will soon become a reality.

Celtic have been interested in the defender for a number of weeks now so will be delighted to have finally got their man.

Shane Duffy

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

The fear that Kristoffer Ajer could depart this summer is growing larger by the day.

The Norwegian has been touted with a £20m move to Southampton and if he departs, Celtic will need to find a replacement.

Preston's Ben Davies has been linked but Duffy is undoubtedly a better option.

He has international experience, 33 caps, has played in the Premier League for numerous years and is a gigantic frame at 6 foot 4. That's two inches smaller than Ajer but they shouldn't face any aerial disadvantages by landing Duffy.

Shane Duffy

After all, the Irishman won 3.7 aerial duels in the English top-flight last summer. Despite his no-nonsense nature, he is also capable of keeping the ball on the deck and playing out from the back.

Duffy completed just over 80% of his passes last term so is unlikely to have too many issues replacing Ajer if he departs.

Of course, it will only be a loan signing but it'll give the club more time to try and find a long-term replacement for their defensive colossus.
