Leeds United have certainly meant business this summer.

After securing promotion from the Championship last term in emphatic style, the Whites are doing everything possible to acclimatise to life at the higher level.

Marcelo Bielsa's side certainly took the second tier by storm last season, winning the league by 10 points as they proved they were head and shoulders above their rivals.

But this term will be completely different.

Leeds have spent 16 years away from the Premier League, and it'd be naive to think that they could just slot back in to life in the fast lane.

But that's why the club's transfer activity has been particularly impressive.

Deals to sign Rodrigo and Robin Koch were big indicators of the level of ambition being showed at Elland Road, but the Whites are far from done.

The prospect of signing an attack-minded midfielder is surely near the top of Victor Orta's shopping list, but according to reports, one key target looks set to move elsewhere.

Reports from Football London claim that Conor Gallagher is closing in on a switch to Crystal Palace.

The Chelsea prospect was widely linked with a move to Elland Road this summer as Bielsa looked to fill a vital gap in his squad.

Fulham and Southampton were also said to be keen.

However it's claimed that the former Charlton and Swansea City loanee will now move to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan deal as he looks to build up his experience in the Premier League.

It's said that Gallagher's move to the Eagles will not include an option for Palace to buy the prospect, and the midfielder will also pen an extension to his Chelsea deal before leaving.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a bit of a blow for Leeds United.

Conor Gallagher is one of the most talented young players in England at the moment and that is shown by the level of interest in his services.

The Chelsea prospect perfectly fits the bill for what Marcelo Bielsa is wanting in a player, and so to miss out on him is disappointing.

However I'm sure the Whites have a trick up their sleeve.

Victor Orta is a shrewd operator and will no doubt have a list of potential targets to fill that number 10 role in Bielsa's side.

While no move for an attack-minded player is imminent, there's still plenty of time to get a deal done before the transfer window shuts.

That deal may not be for Conor Gallagher, but as they say, there's plenty more fish in the sea.
