Dayot Upamecano is a wanted man following his brilliant performances in 2019/20 for RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old centre-back ranked first in the Champions League for duel success (71%) and progressive carries (125), per Opta. And he also featured in WhoScored's Champions League Team of the Season after finishing the campaign with a 7.26 rating.Upamecano has all the makings of a great modern-day defender and it's no surprise to see his name in the rumour mill, with Manchester United the latest club to be linked with the Frenchman.ESPN reported on Monday that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Upamecano to bolster his defensive options. It comes as the Red Devils close in on a £40 million deal for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

However, RB Leipzig made it clear after the rumours emerged that Upamecano is not for sale.

The centre-back signed a new contract extension with the Bundesliga outfit in July and RB Leipzig were keen to remind Man United of that by posting three not so subtle tweets.

Good work, guys.

Upamecano has risen to new heights since signing for RB Leipzig from their sister side RB Salzburg in January 2017.

He was shortlisted for the 2018 Golden Boy award and is coming off the back of the best season of his career.

His efforts in RB Leipzig's run to the Champions League semi-finals made him stand out, not least his display in the quarter-final win over Atletico Madrid.

Man United have now joined the clubs interested in signing him, per ESPN's report, with Solskjaer 'prioritising' the addition of a talented centre-back to partner Harry Maguire.

Apparently, the Red Devils are confident that a deal can be struck before the October 5 transfer deadline.
