Leeds United are chomping at the bit to get this season underway.

After a stunning season in the Championship the Whites are preparing for a big challenge as they return to the Premier League following a 16-year absence.

Leeds ended the season 10 points clear of their closest competitors last term, and they'll certainly be hoping to take that momentum into the top flight.

But if anyone thought that Marcelo Bielsa's side would be complacent, you'd be sadly mistaken.

The Argentine seems determined to make a success of Leeds' return to the big time, and that's been evident by their business in the transfer market.

As well as seeing a flurry of talented young players join the club, the Whites have added players such as Robin Koch and Rodrigo to their first team squad.

But with under two weeks until the start of the Premier League season, it seems that Victor Orta isn't done yet.

Recent reports have suggested that Rodrigo De Paul is a target for the Yorkshire side.

However it now seems that this interest is kicking up a notch.

Football Insider claim that Leeds have now agreed personal terms with the Udinese man.

While a transfer fee is yet to be agreed with the Serie A side, it certainly seems that the Premier League newcomers are closing in on a potential deal.

The report states that Leeds have offered him a significant pay rise on his current deal, meaning that it's now up to the two clubs to thrash out a deal.

De Paul is a familiar face for Bielsa, with the Argentine coach said to have been monitoring his progress closely over recent seasons.

With this development it seems that the duo could finally be set to link up at Elland Road.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Leeds United will be delighted if they can get this deal done.

Rodrigo De Paul is a talented playmaker and winger with a strong record, having scored seven goals and creating six for Udinese last term.

Marcelo Bielsa is keen to add another creative midfielder to his side, and it certainly seems that the deal is moving closer.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can strike a deal to get the deal done, but given the desire of Leeds and the player to complete a deal, it may be the case that Udinese are backed into a corner.

If this does happen then there's a chance that this will be the final piece of Bielsa's jigsaw as he looks ahead to what will be a challenging season.
