Celtic face the prospect of a big season ahead.

After winning the title last term the Bhoys are on a run of nine-straight league titles - a feat which puts them on the cusp of a major milestone.

Success this time around will make it 10-in-a-row, an achievement that will perfectly mark a decade of domination.

Unfortunately things haven't got off to the best of starts.

Boli Bolingoli's foolish actions ensured that Celtic's start to the league campaign was delayed, meaning that their rivals Rangers FC now hold a lead in the title race.

Things also haven't exactly gone to plan after being knocked out of the Champions League in the second qualifying round.

Of course there's plenty of time to put things right, but Celtic must act quickly.

With the transfer market open for a while longer it gives Neil Lennon the perfect opportunity to strengthen his squad.

Shane Duffy is already set to become a Bhoy, but according to reports it's a different Premier League star who could be heading to Parkhead.

Reports from Sports World Ghana, via the Daily Record, Celtic are targeting a move for Christian Atsu.

The Newcastle United man is a contender to leave St James' Park after falling out of favour under Steve Bruce.

Atsu is a player who has been on Celtic's radar before, with the Scottish giants linked with a move back in January.

That didn't materialise with the former Chelsea man making 25 appearances last term.

But with opportunities due to be limited, the time could be near for the winger to finally make the move to Glasgow.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could be a real coup for Celtic.

Things haven't worked out for Christian Atsu at Newcastle United, but that doesn't make him a bad player.

The winger possesses great pace and a trick or two, which means that he's very difficult to stop once he gets going.

Perhaps a lack of first team opportunities has dented his confidence, but there's still a player in there.

Celtic would perhaps be the ideal place for him to kickstart his career.

Neil Lennon would ensure that they got the best of the winger, and his x-factor could see him be a real game-changer in the Scottish league.

We'll have to wait and see if this has any substance to it, but it's certainly a move that seems plausible.
