Tottenham Hotspur are in the middle of a big rebuild.

Last season quite frankly wasn't good enough for a club of their stature, and everyone associated with the club will know it.

After moving into the state-of-the-art new stadium, the last thing that Daniel Levy wanted was to drop out of the Champions League.

But given the club's dismal form in the Premier League it could have been even worse.

Spurs only just scraped into the top six positions which secured them Europa League football this term.

A campaign without continental competition would have been unthinkable, and that's why Tottenham are determined to make the changes needed to compete this time around.

Mourinho has wasted little time in bringing fresh faces to the club.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty have already joined the club from Southampton, Burnley and Wolves respectively.

But with new faces coming in, it's only natural that some may have to leave.

As well as trimming the squad, Spurs will be mindful of finances given the impact of COVID-19 and that's why one big-money player could be heading for the exit door.

Reports from the Daily Mail claim that Tanguy Ndombele could move on this summer.

The French midfielder only moved to north London last year for a fee that was worth upwards of £54million.

However Ndombele has struggled to settle into life under Mourinho and it seems that Portuguese boss is keen to cash in if possible.

It's claimed that he has doubts over whether the midfielder has what it takes to thrive in the Premier League and believes that the funds could be better used elsewhere.

Of course finding a buyer for the midfielder could be tricky given the current financial climate.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It's hardly a surprise to see Tanguy Ndombele linked with a move.

Things certainly haven't worked out for him at Tottenham Hotspur, which is a shame.

Now valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, he was tipped to be a great addition for the north London side, but it just hasn't worked out for him - particularly under Jose Mourinho.

While there's nothing to suggest that he won't improve after having a year to settle in, it seems likely that he could move on if the opportunity arises.

Whether if anyone can afford a deal remains to be seen, but I won't be surprised to see Spurs doing everything that they can to move him on.
