Leeds United are taking the idea of 'striking while the iron's hot' to a new level.

Fresh from their stunning promotion-winning campaign, the Whites certainly mean business as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

It's been 16 long years since the Whites last graced the top flight, and they're wanting to make this moment count.

Avoiding relegation has to be the primary objective this term, but in truth it seems that Leeds have aspirations much higher than that.

After all, the aim for supporters will be to reestablish the club among England's elite.

Top clubs need top players, and that's where Victor Orta comes in.

Robin Koch and Rodrigo have already been signed this summer, but it seems that there's another big-name star heading to west Yorkshire.

Reports in recent days have suggested that Rodrigo De Paul is closing in on a move to the club after agreeing personal terms.

While a deal is yet to be completed, Leeds favourite Noel Whelan believes that his former club are clearly on the right track by bringing in a player of such pedigree.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said: “Leeds United are a very big club and he will have been drawn by the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

“You also have to look at Marcelo Bielsa, the pull that he has. The style of play that he has implemented at Leeds is a joy to watch and must be great to play in.

“Rodrigo de Paul is a player that Bielsa already knows.

"I am sure he has been watched for a number of years so this is somebody that looks like a fantastic player, a great signing and it is good to see that big clubs like Inter Milan are interested in him as well.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a deal this will be if Leeds United can pull it off.

Rodrigo De Paul is a player of immense quality and one who will certainly add to Marcelo Bielsa's pool of talent.

A creative midfielder and winger, the Argentine boasts quite a reputation which is found to get supporters' pulses racing this term.

Providing he can settle into Premier League life, I think that De Paul could be a big player.

Of course Leeds will need to strike a deal with Udinese to pull this one off, but given the noises coming out of the reports it seems that it's a case of when rather than if.
