It's not often that Leeds United supporters will have their eyes glued to the TV during the international break.

From everyone that played in the Championship last term, only six players currently play football for their nations.

Even then, they aren't for particularly exciting countries.

Tyler Roberts has Wales caps to his name while Barry Douglas and Liam Cooper are Scottish internationals.

Gjanni Alioski plays for North Macedonia and Mateusz Klich is a regular in the Poland squad. Stuart Dallas is called up by Northern Ireland too.

However, during this current break, they'll get to feast their eyes on Rodrigo and Robin Koch playing for two of the most illustrious nations in world football - Spain and Germany.

The latter registered an assist for Spain on Thursday evening as floods of Leeds fans tuned in to see their new signing.

Seeing their players in action for some of the best international sides around could become a regular occurrence soon. Kalvin Phillips is in the England squad but on the topic of fully-fledged internationals, Leeds could sign another one before the window closes.

That's if you believe reports from Italy.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Whites are interesting in signing Brescia defender Jhon Chancellor.

Journalist Phil Hay has previously stated that Leeds are still contemplating another defensive addition and it appears as though Chancellor has been added to an ever-growing list of targets.

The report states that the 28-year-old Venezuela international is also attracting Brighton in a deal that could be concluded for around €5m (£4.4m).

Coincidentally, Chancellor is currently playing for a club owned by former Leeds figure Massimo Cellino.

The Italian adored his performances at the last Copa America and is a big fan of the centre-back who is capped 15 times.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Chancellor may have been relegated to Serie B with Brescia last term but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the qualities to fit in at Leeds.

Standing at a gigantic 6 foot 6, he is an absolute animal in the air, but surprisingly, he's also good at playing out from the back - a key part of the way Marcelo Bielsa gets his team to play.

The defender completed 86% of his passes last season and won 2.4 aerial duels per game.

Throughout his career, the ability to win headers has been a huge part of his arsenal.

Immediately, you can look towards comparisons to a certain Pontus Jansson. The big Swede left Leeds for Brentford last summer but they struggled to replace his height and presence, particularly when defending set-pieces.

If there was one area to criticise the Whites in 2019/20, it would be their ability to defend corners.

Jansson was key to this kind of situation so watching him leave Elland Road really didn't help.

Leeds will need to close off every single avenue when they play in the Premier League. Clubs at the elite level pounce on any weakness so Bielsa and Victor Orta need to make sure they are fully equipped.

Chancellor would clearly add an element to the squad that they currently lack. At just over £4m, he wouldn't cost the earth either.
