Gone are the days of Carlos Corberan's U23 side at Leeds United.

A man who was widely-tipped to be Marcelo Bielsa's successor, he took on the Huddersfield Town job this summer, replacing the impressive Cowley brothers.

However, that doesn't mean Leeds' academy is set to go downhill.

In fact, their youth sides now look stronger than they have ever done before.

The academy facilities at Thorpe Arch received Category One status earlier this summer, meaning that they now have one of the best youth set-ups in the country.

It's no surprise, therefore, that Leeds have signed so many young players.

Sam Greenwood arrived from Arsenal, Cody Drameh from Fulham and Joe Gelhardt was also snapped up after departing Wigan.

Leeds welcomed Dutch goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel to the club from Ajax as well.

Coincidentally, the Whites are looking towards the Netherlands to sign another young player.

That's the word of Voetbal International, who claim that Leeds are on the verge of signing teenage attacker Crysencio Summerville.

The 19-year-old currently plays for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie but the Yorkshire club are now right at the front of the queue to lure him away this summer.

VI suggest that Wolves, Rangers, Anderlecht and RB Salzburg have all been following him but Leeds are now the 'main candidates' to sign him.

A fee is yet to be agreed but it's thought that a price of around €1.5m (£1.3m) will be enough to sign the winger.

Feyenoord reportedly have no choice but to sell Summerville and according to AD, Leeds want the transfer wrapped up by the weekend.

The clock is ticking.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Leeds' recruitment has been absolutely sensational this summer.

Whether it be improving the first-team with Rodrigo and Robin Koch or looking towards the academy with signings like Drameh and Gelhardt, the club mean business.

Summerville, however, would arguably be the tip of the iceberg in terms of the young individuals that Victor Orta has brought to the club.

He is an absolute wizard on the ball and on loan at ADO Den Haag last term, he racked up an impressive 1.5 dribbles per game. Summerville was also fouled 2.2 times a match so it's really no surprise that he's been described as someone who's "reminiscent to Jadon Sancho."

Compare those numbers to Leeds' current squad and only Jack Harrison achieves more dribbles. No player, meanwhile, is fouled as many times as Summerville.

For someone like Kalvin Phillips, he should be licking his lips. More fouls equal further opportunities to take set-pieces.

The teenager won't only improve the academy, but he should also improve the overall quality of Marcelo Bielsa's side.
