Steven Gerrard's Rangers FC side are in dreamland at the moment with the Gers sitting pretty at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

They have had a relatively easy start to the season and are already six points clear of their arch-rivals.

On top of that, their defence has also broken a rather remarkable record.

In keeping a clean sheet against Hamilton last week, they became the first Scottish side for 114 years to not concede a single goal in the opening six matches.

Consider where Rangers' defence was at the back end of last year and it's crazy to think that this has been achieved.

Defensive mistakes were following them around regularly as the Light Blues eventually finished 13 points off the pace.

However, on this occasion, it's Gerrard side that are leading the way heading into the international break.

Rangers aren't going to stop trying to improve their team either. A number of transfer rumours have been doing the rounds over the last couple of days, particularly from a midfield perspective.

Earlier this week we saw the Glaswegians linked with a move for Genk defensive midfielder Patrik Hrosovsky.

Clearly, that's an area the club are trying to strengthen because they have their eyes set on another holding player.

The Glasgow Times revealed on Thursday evening that Rangers were keeping tabs on Maccabi Tel-Aviv's Dan Glazer.

The Isreal international, who is capped seven times, is valued at just £1.44m, via Transfermarkt. It would appear that Ross Wilson has stumbled upon a potential bargain.

Despite all of that, Rangers have supposedly distanced themselves from a move. Very strange.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Rangers want to strengthen their midfield in the remaining weeks of the summer window but this is a bit of a strange decision.

The Gers squad is rather heavy at the moment and in the middle of the park, they have a variety of options for Gerrard to pick and choose from.

In a holding role, he can go with Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara or Steven Davis, while if he prefers someone with more attacking flavour, he has Ianis Hagi and Joe Aribo.

Ryan Jack

Of course, Rangers could subsidise a move for Glazer by letting one of the following players leave, but only Kamara has only ever been touted with an exit from Ibrox.

That being said, even if he leaves, they still have plenty of defensive-minded midfielders.

Glazer may have experience at international level but he's still pretty unproven. If Rangers do look towards a midfielder, they should go after the more experienced Hrosovsky, a player we've already talked up on GMS.
