Tottenham's summer has either been about Tanguy Ndombele or the club's lack of spending power.

Will the Frenchman stay at the club? It feels highly unlikely at the moment.

Ndombele is the club's record signing but after a torrid first campaign in England, reportedly never wants to play under Jose Mourinho again.

It's a shame for all parties that it never quite worked out, but a sale could do wonders for the club's finances.

They had to secure a loan of £175m from the government a few months ago and consequently, Daniel Levy has had to opt for cheaper acquisitions in the transfer market.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg signed for a fee of just £15m, while Matt Doherty only set Spurs back £12m.

Levy has been shrewd, but impressive in equal measure.

When it's come to Ndombele, the word is that he could depart in a possible swap deal. Inter Milan have been interested in the dominant midfielder and it was reported that Milan Skriniar could head the opposite way in a player exchange.

That, however, has died down, and now there are talks of a swap involving Juventus.

According to Calcio Mercato, The Old Lady have leapfrogged Inter in the race to sign Ndombele, and they could offer one of three players to Spurs in return.

The first name mentioned was Federico Bernardeschi and then perhaps controversially, Aaron Ramsey was also named as an option.

The most eye-catching of players who could be offered is flashy winger Douglas Costa.

Juventus are willing to part ways with the Brazilian and they have already fielded interest from Manchester United for his services. They reportedly want €60m (£53.6m) if they are to agree on a straight up sale.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Spurs may have a plethora of wingers available to them at the moment, but if they are given the opportunity to buy Costa, they must gleefully accept it with both hands.

The 29-year-old is one of the most tricky players in his position in world football, and his dribbling ability combined with his speed make him such a scary opponent for any full-back.

Last term, he scored just three goals but he did register seven assists. However, let's focus purely on his ability to beat a man here.

For Juve, he racked up 1.9 dribbles per match last season and in his sole appearance in the Champions League, a 20-minute cameo, Costa performed as many as four dribbles.

That's an absurd tally in such a short space of time.

The winger has been performing like this for years though. After signing for Bayern Munich in 2015 he was described as "ruthless and unstoppable" by then Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu.

Bayern expert Philip Rober then hailed his greatest attributes: "Great dribbling skills, explosive pace – both over short and long distances – and a powerful shot in both feet, allied to the ability to beat defenders and a set-piece threat, make him a potent asset."

Just imagine having someone like that at Spurs next season. He could well and truly have supporters on their feet.
