It's remarkable to think that Leeds United's summer can get any better than it's currently going.

Buoyed by promotion to the Premier League, the Whites received an influx of an estimated £200m.

In welcoming those cash reserves, they have broken their transfer record and signed a whole plethora of young individuals to bolster their academy ranks.

Victor Orta isn't here to mess around and he could be on the verge of luring some new eye-catching faces to Elland Road.

A deal is still being worked on to bring Rodrigo de Paul to the club while Josko Gvardiol's impending transfer is now close to an agreement.

On the pitch, though, Kalvin Phillips could be on the verge of his England debut.

It feels as though everything is falling perfectly for the Leeds hierarchy and players at the moment - they now just need Marcelo Bielsa to confirm he's staying.

Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds have already snapped up Rodrigo from Spanish shores but they're now aiming to bring another La Liga player to the club.

According to reports from Sport, the Whites are in negotiations to sign Rafinha from Barcelona.

The midfielder spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Celta Vigo and it's thought he has no place in Ronald Koeman's plans for the Catalan giants.

Leeds have 'knocked on the door' of Barcelona but there are still plenty of discussions that need to take place before Rafinha sets foot anywhere near Yorkshire.

Barca are said to be asking for a fee of around €16m (£14.2m) in order for any willing suitor to prise him away from Camp Nou.

Rafinha in action for Barcelona

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Forget De Paul, forget Gvardiol, this would easily be one of the best pieces of business Leeds could do this summer.

Rafinha may be in the shadows somewhat at Barcelona, but he is a first-class player, cut from the same cloth as his brother - Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara.

The Brazil international started off as a winger but has since become a tricky midfield player, featuring further back for his side and starting off attacks from deep.

He is a complete box to box midfielder and could quite easily give Phillips a run for his money in the middle of the park.

Kalvin Phillips

Speaking about the player, former Barcelona defender Andreu Fontas said: "Rafinha is a great player. Physically, he is a beast and, technically, he is superb."

You can already see why we're comparing him to Phillips.

The 27-year-old won 2.4 tackles per game last season, just 0.2 fewer than the Yorkshire Pirlo while his passing was actually better. Rafinha's success rate was north of 87%, compared to Phillips' who managed to complete just shy of 82% of his passes.

With the Premier League starting in just a week's time, Leeds could do far worse than bringing another technically aggressive player to the club.
