Lionel Messi is officially STAYING at Barcelona.

But the Argentine isn't happy about how one of the most shocking transfer sagas of recent memory has concluded.

Speaking on Friday, Messi implied that he's been forced to remain at Camp Nou, despite doing everything he could to leave.

"I wasn't happy and I wanted to leave. I have not been allowed this in any way and I will stay at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute.

"The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster.

"I thought and was sure that I was free to leave, the president always said that at the end of the season I could decide if I stayed or not."

It's quite extraordinary for a player as huge as Messi to come out and publically confirm his desire to leave while airing his grievances with the club.

Messi has been airing his opinion on Barca

But, as we all know, he's a model professional on the pitch and has also reiterated the fact he'll continue to give his all for Barcelona, despite being unhappy.

"I am going to continue at Barca and my attitude is not going to change no matter how much I wanted to go.

"I will do my best. I always want to win, I’m competitive and I don’t like to lose anything. I always want the best for the club, for the dressing room and for myself."

Messi has committed his future to the club

But, do fans believe that? It seems not.

Spanish newspaper Marca ran a poll on Friday night asking if fans agree with Messi's decision to stay at Barcelona.

Over 26,000 supporters responded, with 61.6% saying 'no' and only 38.4% saying 'yes'.

Some fans don't believe in Messi anymore

Therefore, it seems fans believe Barcelona would have been better off next season WITHOUT Messi. We never thought we'd have to say that...
