Suarez, Ronaldo, Dybala: Juventus’ potential starting XI for 2020-21 season

Luis Suarez is on the brink of sealing a move to Juventus after being told that he has no future at Barcelona by new head coach Ronald Koeman.

Suarez, per Marca, has reached an agreement with Juve over a transfer to Turin.

He will sign a two-year contract with the Italian giants, with an option for an additional year, and will pocket €10 million net per year.

Suarez has reportedly been training alone at Barça ahead of his move to Juve.

The Uruguayan’s imminent departure from Camp Nou has been rather unceremonious. He’s the club’s third all-time leading scorer with 198 goals in 283 appearances but was told his Barça career was over last month in a phone call with Koeman which lasted less than one minute.

However, Suarez will be joining a team that has won the last nine Serie A titles in a row.

His mission now will be to help the club win the Champions League for the first time since 1996.

But where will Suarez play in Andrea Pirlo’s 2020-21 first-choice XI?

Let’s take a closer look…

Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczesny

The former Arsenal goalkeeper has improved dramatically since joining Juventus in 2017 and will continue as the club’s No. 1 under Pirlo.

Right-back: Juan Cuadrado

There’s talk that Juve might make a move for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin. If that fails to happen, Juan Cuadrado will be the team’s right-back for the upcoming campaign.

Centre-back: Leonardo Bonucci

Suarez is about to become teammates with Giorgio Chiellini, the player he famously bit during the 2014 World Cup, which will make things interesting on his arrival. However, it’s Chiellini’s Italian teammate Leonardo Bonucci who will get the nod in the heart of Juve’s defence.

Centre-back: Matthijs de Ligt

The 21-year-old won the Scudetto in his debut campaign at the Allianz Stadium and will be hoping to lift the European Cup in his second season.

Left-back: Alex Sandro

The 29-year-old Brazilian is about to begin his sixth season as the club’s first-choice left-back.

Midfield: Arthur

Arthur arrived at Juventus earlier this summer in a deal which saw Miralem Pjanic head to Barcelona. The Brazilian is a fantastic footballer who could flourish with the Serie A outfit.

Midfield: Adrien Rabiot

Like De Ligt, talented midfielder Rabiot is about to begin his second season as a Juventus player.

Midfield: Rodrigo Bentancur

Suarez knows Rodrigo Bentancur well from their time playing together with the Uruguayan national team. The midfielder will be on hand to help his new teammate settle in.

Left-forward: Cristiano Ronaldo

Legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 65 goals in 89 games for his current employers, has been on the opposite team to Suarez on many occasions and will surely be glad to be wearing the same colours as the South American this season.

Centre-forward: Luis Suarez

Suarez is likely to start the new season as the team’s main centre-forward, as Pirlo attempts to offload Gonzalo Higuain.

Right-forward: Paulo Dybala

Juventus wanted to offload Paulo Dybala during the summer of 2019. That would have been a massive mistake. The Argentine forward was superb last season, scoring 17 goals in 46 games.

And here’s what Juventus’s likely 2020-21 XI looks like on paper…

Not bad, eh?
