Erling Haaland reminded everyone why he's one of football's most exciting talents on Monday night.

Such is the lethality of the Borussia Dortmund striker that it's easy to forget he's still only 19 years old and the degree to which he could improve must be a scary thought for European defences.

Haaland kissed goodbye to his lucrative spell at Red Bull Salzburg with 28 goals in 22 games halfway through last season, before amassing 16 strikes in 18 appearances for Dortmund.

Haaland shines vs Northern Ireland

But as much as Haaland feels as though he's been tearing apart European football for years now, it wasn't until this week that he opened his account for Norway.

Haaland scored his first goal for his country during the 2-1 defeat to Austria, but it was during the 5-1 demolition of Northern Ireland that he truly announced himself on the international stage.

The former Manchester United target was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch after scoring two fantastic goals and chipping in with an assist for Alexander Sørloth for good measure.

Haaland goes up to Dallas

The youngster even caught the eye of fans for having celebrated like his idol and Premier League cult hero Michu after his second goal at Windsor Park.

But that wasn't the only way that Haaland encouraged supporters to take to social media during the win over Northern Ireland because his behaviour at full-time also drew attention.

That's because plenty of fans became convinced, albeit jokingly, that Haaland is still secretly a Leeds fans after seeking to swap shirts with Stuart Dallas.

Leeds fans get excited

Besides, footage clearly shows that not only do Haaland and Leeds' very own Dallas exchange jerseys, but it was the Dortmund striker that started the conversation in the first place.

You can check out the footage down below to see why Leeds fans were so chuffed:

One fan wrote: "All about Haaland asking Dallas for his shirt, the kid is Leeds through and through."

Another penned: "Haaland asking Dallas for his shirt is everything I'm about. #lufc"

A third uploaded: "Haaland wears Stuart Dallas pyjamas! He's Leeds and he knows he is! #LUFC"

And a fourth posted: "Haaland swapping shirts with a player from the team he supports - once a Leeds lad, always a Leeds lad."

Haaland's love for Leeds

So, why the association with Leeds? Well, Haaland was actually born in the English city in 2000 because his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, played for the Whites for three years.

And if that isn't good enough, according to Leeds Live, Haaland once told Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten: “I want to be the best possible. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds.

"In addition, the goal is to become a better player than my dad was. I hope to get more caps than he did.”

Sadly for Leeds fans, unless they thrust themselves back into the Champions League any time soon, it seems pretty unlikely that Haaland will play at Elland Road just like his father.

But his actions on Monday suggest that Leeds are still at the forefront of his mind regardless.
