There's no doubt that Chelsea are winning this transfer window.

With the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the world it was expected that many clubs would be tightening the purse strings as they prepared for the summer market.

But not Frank Lampard's side.

Things got off to a perfect start when Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner joined the club earlier this year.

Many thought that Chelsea were simply striking early to get their summer deals done, but it turned out that they were just getting started.

What followed was one of most exciting few weeks in recent transfer windows.

Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and, most recently, Kai Havertz joined the club taking the transfer spend to a running total of over £200million.

There's no doubt that this would represent a stunning summer of transfer business, but it seems that the Blues aren't done yet.

Next on the list appears to be a goalkeeper, and reports have claimed that a deal could be moving closer.

Football London have claimed that a deal to sign Edouard Mendy is near.

The Rennes stopper has been heavily linked with a move to West London, with Petr Cech said to be a big fan of the stopper.

It's claimed that Chelsea had an initial bid of around £18million rejected, but the French side could be tempted to accept a bid if it was to approach the £25million mark.

Such is the optimism at Stamford Bridge, the report states that the club are hopeful that Mendy could even be on board for the weekend's trip to Brighton.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Chelsea supporters can hardly believe their luck this summer.

After doing incredibly well to finish in the top four last season, few would have predicted the way in which the club would kick on.

After spending over £200m in the transfer market the club will surely be competing alongside Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Frank Lampard will surely be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of the new season, especially with Edouard Mendy being linked.

Kepa has been far from convincing between the sticks for Chelsea, and so the potential addition of the Rennes stopper will undoubtedly make them stronger.

Chelsea will certainly be interesting to watch this term, but make no mistake the expectations will be huge around the club.
