It's good to see them being ambitious but they are at risk of missing out on a number of targets.
Coincidentally, another of their priorities has also been linked with Tottenham.
That happens to be Bournemouth forward Josh King. The Norwegian fielded interest from Manchester United in January but stayed with the Cherries and was ultimately relegated to the Championship.
Villa, therefore, are seeking to cash in on that and have now submitted a bid to sign King.
According to The Telegraph, they have offered a sum of £16m to lure the forward back to the Premier League.
Aston Villa are in need of more firepower and see him as a viable alternative after missing out on his former teammate, Wilson.

Dean Smith knows all too well what King can do, as do the club itself.
In three outings against the Villans, the 28-year-old has scored twice, including a goal against them in August 2019.
Villa were new to the Premier League again at that point but King absolutely bullied the centre-half pairing of Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engels.
He not only scored, but he won four aerial duels, completed two dribbles, was fouled once and had two shots.
It was a complete performance from the Norway international who was clinical and aggressive.
Aston Villa have an aggressive nature from someone like Wesley, but he is far from clinical.
The big Brazilian scored just five times in 2019/20 and struggled with his all-round game. England, it would appear, doesn't suit him.
King, in comparison, is a natural in the Premier League.
