Just a few weeks ago, the longest European season in history was concluded with Bayern Munich triumphing over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
Less than four weeks later, the likes of La Liga and the Premier League will get underway this weekend, while Ligue 1 has already begun.
A new season brings with it new signings making debuts for their new clubs. And with every new season also comes new kits.
It seems kits are becoming more and more significant to clubs and designs are becoming more imaginative.
But which clubs have released the best strips ahead of the new campaign?
Well, Spanish outlet AS have decided to rank the 10 best kits ahead of 2020/21.
Let’s see went they went for… (and no, we don't necessarily agree with the ranking).
10) Manchester City (Third kit)
Like marmite. Some will absolutely love City’s third kit and some will absolutely hate it.
It’s apparently inspired by Manchester's rich musical heritage and fashion culture.
You know what? We’re loving it.
9) Liverpool (Away kit)
Kits are becoming more and more ‘out there’ and Liverpool’s first away kit is certainly that.
The strip also features different patterns to help reduce wastage.
Sexy and good for the environment.
8) Benfica (Away kit)
Don’t you just love an all black kit? The silver writing and badge make it look rather slick.
7) Chelsea (Home kit)
A controversial choice from AS. We like the colours but we’re just not big fans of the large ‘3’ in the middle of the shirt.
6) Borussia Monchengladbach (Away kit)
Another black kit and this is beautiful in its simplicity. The black cubes are complemented by subtle silver lines, while the hint of orange in the ‘flat ex’ sponsor is nice.
5) Manchester City (Away kit)
Another City kit features - and it’s another interesting one.
While their third kit is inspired by Manchester's rich musical heritage and fashion culture, the away strip is inspired by the architecture of Manchester specifically featuring a pattern inspired by the buildings found in the Castlefield area.
4) Sampdoria (Home kit)
Wow. How old school is this?
Macron have replaced Joma as Sampdoria’s manufacturer and they have gone proper retro. We dig it.
3) Olympique Marseille (Away kit)
Yes, yes and yes.
Marseille’s away kit features an illustration of the French city and even includes several lights on inside some buildings. Not even the sponsor of ‘Uber Eats’ can ruin this one.
2) Atletico Madrid (Home kit)
Can we be totally honest here? We’re not massive fans of this one.
It looks like any other Atleti home shirt in truth apart from one aspect - the ‘paintbrush style’ of the red and white stripes. Instead of the stripes being straight, they feature and wonky design that looks as though a child has painted them.
1) AS Roma (Home kit)
Yep, we’re with AS on this one.
Based on Roma’s home shirt from 1978/80, it combines nostalgia and a modern feel beautifully.
It may look a bit like a rocket ice-lolly but we like those too.
