Dejan Lovren scored a superb goal for Croatia in their Nations League game against France. In a rematch of the 2018 World Cup final, the former Liverpool centre-back put his country ahead with a striker’s finish.Lovren was seen nearly scoring a free-kick for Zenit Saint Petersburg at the end of August. And in the first half of Croatia's game against France, he turned into Cristiano Ronaldo to put Zlatko Dalic's side ahead. What on earth is going on?!Lovren's brilliant finish
Fair play, Dejan.
His goal sparked an instant reaction from Liverpool fans on Twitter.
Lovren left Liverpool in the summer, joining Zenit in an £11m deal.
He's enjoyed a fine start to life in Russia, scoring in a 2-0 win against FC Rostov last month in just his third competitive game for the club.
So he's been amongst the goals lately.
However, Croatia's lead against France didn't last too long.
France seal 4-2 win
Antoine Griezmann scored in the 43rd minute before a Dominik Livakovic own goal in injury time handed the 2018 World Cup winners the lead.
Josip Brekalo equalised for Croatia in the second half but France ran out 4-2 winners thanks to goals from Dayot Upamecano and Olivier Giroud.
Does that scoreline sound familiar?
Unlucky, Croatia.
