Tottenham have had an interesting summer.

Like most clubs around the globe, they have been affected incredibly by the ongoing pandemic.

Huge losses of £200m are expected in north London and consequently, their desires of getting back among Europe's elite has been damaged.

Over a year ago, the club had just competed in the Champions League final but the 2019/20 campaign was rather disastrous.

So much has changed in north London since and the entire dynamic and culture has shifted with the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

Daniel Levy's appointment of the Portuguese showed they mean business but the results on the pitch haven't paid off too much.

Considering where they were when he walked through the door, it has been an improvement, but they finished outside the top four and will have to go through qualifying to reach the group stages of the Europa League.

Mourinho celebrates

Fortunately, they have still been able to conclude some business. The latest arrival was full-back Matt Doherty, but another Premier League player could soon become a Spurs man.

That's if Levy and Mourinho heed the advice of former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan. He revealed on Monday that a move for Wilfried Zaha could reinvigorate the winger.

He told talkSPORT:

"It hasn't been a great season for Wilfried Zaha. Palace have a valuation for him which I think is based on his talent.

"Some of the output he has given for Palace this season would not necessarily demand the same figure. If you could get £60m last year, you're going to really struggle to get that now because his form hasn't been what it was.

"He does want to go but I'm not entirely sure there's a queue of clubs that will buy him. I think, as much as it galls me, Tottenham is a place that would do Wilfried well."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Zaha's value has fallen astronomically in the last 12 months. Last summer he was touted with an £80m switch to Arsenal but now he could only cost around £30m.

Palace must be cursing themselves that they didn't sell him in 2019.

The Ivorian had a poor campaign and scored just four times in all competitions. That being said, he is still a very dangerous player.

In 215 Premier League outings, Zaha has scored 36 times and provided 39 assists. That's not a bad record at all.

Wilfried Zaha versus Oxford United

At the age of 27, the attacker is now in his prime too. There is surely no better time to try and get the best out of him.

Hailed as "phenomenal" by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, he's a player that's earned the respect of plenty throughout the division. It's easy to see why.

Last term he managed 4.3 successful dribbles a game. It's no wonder that BBC pundit Garth Crooks thinks he can "give defences palpitations."

He is a fabulous talent and someone like Mourinho could finally extract his true ability at a bigger club.
