Celtic plotting cut-price deal for six-goal ace

What a season this could be for Celtic.

After winning a ninth successive league title last term the Bhoys are on the cusp of a historic campaign.

Victory in the league this term would secure a historic 10-in-a-row for Neil Lennon’s side, marking a decade of dominance for the club.

But things don’t like they’ll be all that easy.

Rangers FC are improving every year and already find themselves six points clear at the top of the table.

While Celtic have two games in hand, the start of their campaign has been from plain sailing.

As well as being dumped out of the Champions League, their reputation has taken something of a hit due to Boli Bolingoli’s breach of COVID-19 regulations.

But while that is going on, Celtic are still scouring the market for potential additions.

As well as targeting a left back to replace Bolingoli, Lennon’s side are looking for talented players who could improve their squad in both the short and long term.

According to reports from Football Insider, they are taking a look at Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The Queens Park Rangers winger is hot property this summer after an impressive campaign at Loftus Road last term.

Last season he scored six and created nine for the Hoops, alerting the likes of Crystal Palace to his services.

But it seems that Celtic have a plan of their own.

Osayi-Samuel has less than a year remaining on his contract in west London and that means that he could leave the club on a free transfer next term.

With the Bhoys being classed as a non-domestic rival, they would be able to open talks with the winger as early as January over a pre-contract agreement to bring him to Parkhead next summer.

QPR will no doubt be looking to either tie him down to a new contract, or cash in on him this summer to ensure that they don’t lose one of their hottest prospects for a nominal fee.

GIVEMESPORT’S Phil Spencer says…

This would be a fantastic deal for Celtic.

Bright Osayi-Samuel is one of the hottest prospects in the EFL after an impressive couple of years with Queens Park Rangers.

However it seems that he could be moving on before long.

With his contract ticking down, the winger looks set to be a bargain signing for someone – whether he moves on this summer or not.

While the Bhoys would no doubt like to get a deal done as soon as possible, it makes sense to try and convince him to move to them next summer in order to get him for nothing.

It’s a risky strategy, but if it comes off then it’ll be a wonderful piece of business done by Nick Hammond.
