Kevin De Bruyne was named the PFA Player of the Year on Tuesday. After an outstanding season, the Belgian midfielder beat the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold to the award. De Bruyne is actually the first-ever Manchester City player to win the accolade and in his acceptance speech, thanked manager Pep Guardiola for allowing him to express himself."Most of the time he just lets me be me," he said."We speak often about the team but in a lot of senses he knows when he gives the orders of what the team has to do that I will listen. "But then on the other side he gives me a lot of freedom; I don't know why, that's just the way it goes between us."He knows in one way I will always put the team first and then obviously if I can help myself I'm going to do that. De Bruyne thanked Guardiola in his acceptance speech"But he knows that I want the team to win, and if the team wins I will gain from it. So I think in that sense he feels fine and he trusts me completely." After De Bruyne scooped the PFA award, Premier League rival Van Dijk sent him a classy message on Twitter. The Dutch defender wrote: "Not a bad one to win I guess. Congratulations well deserved big man!"

Pure class, that. Even Liverpool captain Henderson sent kind words to De Bruyne as well:

"Congratulations to Kevin De Bruyne on winning the PFA Player of the Year award. Class act on and off the pitch. Well deserved."

That's the perfect way to respond.

Henderson also congratulated De Bruyne

Those comments look even more classy when you compare them to what Bernardo Silva said about Man City players never winning individual awards back in April.

Well, one of your teammates has finally won one, Bernardo... and it's very much deserved.
