This has been a remarkable summer for Leeds United and their supporters.

After achieving promotion to the Premier League, they secured an estimated windfall of £200m.

They have since put that to good work by landing multiple targets in the transfer window.

The most impressive of which was a club-record swoop for Spain international Rodrigo. A player with Champions League experience in abundance, he's exactly the type of player that could fire Leeds to new heights.

However, they will also be buoyed by the addition of Robin Koch, the man identified to replace the mesmeric Ben White at the heart of the Whites' defence.

Leeds' most impressive signing, though, was getting Marcelo Bielsa to extend his contract.

The Argentine held his pre-match press conference ahead of their opening day clash with Liverpool on Thursday and confirmed that he would indeed be staying for another year.

Marcelo Bielsa

It has been amazing two years for Bielsa but he could be set to revisit a player who was at the centre of one of the biggest dramas to emerge during his reign.

That's because Leeds are still very much keen on signing Daniel James.

Yes, you read that right, the player that caused Victor Orta so much heartache 20 months ago, could finally join them.

Well, that's if they do decide to make an offer for the player.

Writing on The Athletic's new real-time social channel, Leeds guru Phil Hay said the following:

"Keeping options open with wingers too and haven't yet gone back in for Ryan Kent. Bielsa is still a firm admirer of Dan James at Man Utd."

What a turn up for the books this is.

Daniel James

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

For anyone associated with Leeds or for anyone who watched their Amazon Prime documentary, James brings back some rather incredible memories.

The Welshman became Leeds' number one target in the winter window of 2019 and he was on the verge of signing for the club.

James had put pen to paper on his contract and was even pictured holding a Leeds shirt at Elland Road.

However, Swansea failed to pick up the phone in time on deadline day and ultimately, the deal fell through.

Daniel James at Manchester United

It was one of the craziest transfer sagas to play out in English football over the last few years, and it's hardly a surprise that they're still interested in the tricky winger.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Manchester United last term, scoring four times and creating seven goals.

The 22-year-old is now held in high regard too. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed his "exceptional pace" after joining in 2019, while United midfielder Andreas Pereira went as far as to label James "explosive."

That frightening burst of speed is enough to scare any defender in the world and Leeds would be lucky to have a player of his calibre. A move, however, looks unlikely.
