The wait is nearly over. We are now just a day away from the Premier League season kicking off and for the first time since 2004, it will include Leeds United.

The Yorkshire side slid down the football ladder 16 years ago and have found it difficult to regain their place among the country's elite.

That was until a certain Marcelo Bielsa walked through the door.

He has been a breath of fresh air at Elland Road. A meticulous figure for so many reasons, his attention to detail is arguably second to none.

From improving the car parking at Thorpe Arch to ensuring his coaching staff study every single set-piece goal in Europe's top-five leagues, some of his methods are barbaric.

Such are his crazy antics, there are stories of Bielsa chasing fans with a grenade back in his homeland.

That hasn't crept into his repertoire at Leeds but it's definitely been an explosive tenure. The good news is, we'll definitely have one more year of him too. El Loco confirmed in his press conference on Thursday that he would be penning a new deal.

But back to the whacky world of the transfer market.

Late last week Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher was linked with a switch to Leeds. He played for Charlton and then Swansea on loan in the Championship last term but now looks ready to make the step up to Premier League football.

Crystal Palace and West Brom have also been touted with a move but if he goes anywhere, former Leeds man Noel Whelan thinks it should be Yorkshire.

Speaking to Football Insider, he stated:

"I would love to have him at Leeds. I was very impressed when I saw him play last season. He stood out like a sore thumb.

“Great on the ball and very competitive. He likes to get on the ball at every opportunity, very much like a Pablo Hernandez. He is not shy about having the ball at his feet in tight situations, good vision, good ranger of passing."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Gallagher is a fantastic young player. There are no two ways about it. He played in 47 Championship matches last term, missing just one game for either of his loan clubs during his two different stints.

He had a tremendous campaign, demonstrating his fabulous creative instincts by laying on 11 assists. On top of that, the 20-year-old also found the back of the net on six occasions.

However, despite his ever-improving nature, do Leeds really need another young midfielder or more creativity?

The club have been linked with a mega-money move for Rodrigo de Paul but with Mateusz Klich, Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo and Hernandez all possessing the ability to play behind the striker, they are well stacked.

Furthermore, they have an absurd number of players coming through the academy to choose from.

Whether it be Jamie Shackleton, Mateusz Bogusz, Alfie McCalmont or Robbie Gotts, Bielsa should focus on developing his own talent, rather than Chelsea's.
