We might have already witnessed the best Premier League game of the season on the opening day of the 2020/21 campaign. The champions of the Premier League faced the champions of the Championship, as Liverpool hosted Leeds at Anfield. It was always going to be an intriguing battle between Jurgen Klopp and Marcelo Bielsa’s sides. And it certainly was as Liverpool overcame Leeds to win 4-3 thanks to a Mohamed Salah hat-trick.But despite taking a fourth-minute lead from the penalty spot through Salah, they had to work very hard for their three points.

Leeds were level eight minutes later after a terrific goal from Jack Harrison.

But in the 20th-minute, Virgil van Dijk powered his side into a 2-1 lead from Andy Robertson’s corner.

This Leeds side won’t give up this season and were level again 10 minutes later when Patrick Bamford capitalised on Van Dijk’s mistake.

Liverpool were ahead for a third time three minutes later as Salah smashed the ball home after Leeds failed to clear a free-kick.

Klopp would surely have a stern word with his side at half-time to ensure they went on to win the match comfortably.

They probably should have done in the second half but squandered plenty of opportunities to kill off Leeds.

And it came back to bite them with 25 minutes as Mateusz Klich finished superbly from Helder Costa’s cross.

But Liverpool were given the perfect opportunity to win the match after Leeds' record signing, Rodrigo, brought down Fabinho in the penalty area in the 88th-minute.

Up stepped Salah, who scored an opening day hat-trick.

What. A. Game.

Klopp would have been tearing his hair out at some of the defending he witnessed from his side. Liverpool won the title last season largely thanks to their incredible defensive display, grinding out narrow wins.

This was nothing of the sort.

They always looked dangerous going forward but, considering the chances they had, should have scored five or six.

As for Leeds, they already look a capable Premier League side. They won't be the only side to be cut open by Liverpool but they might be the only side to score THREE against them at Anfield.

Bielsa's side play with no fear and they won't be beaten too many times this campaign.

Leeds are back in the Premier League and they mean business!
