Leeds United are enjoying quite a summer so far.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were runaway leaders in the Championship last term and won the league with a 10-point buffer on their nearest rivals.

But this season will be a completely different challenge.

Competing in the Premier League is a huge step up on the second tier, and it's only natural that there will be ups and downs as they learn to compete with the best sides in the country.

After all, 16 years is a long time to be away.

That said, the Yorkshire side have certainly cracked on with the task of settling into life in the Premier League with some shrewd transfer business.

Victor Orta and his recruitment team have already brought in Robin Koch and Rodrigo - both of whom look set to be big players for Leeds this term.

In addition to that they've also brought in a number of talented youngsters including Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh who will be pushing for first team involvement over the coming seasons.

But their work is far from done.

Marcelo Bielsa would still like some big names to fill out his first team squad and that's why they continue to be linked with players.

Among those players is Florentino Luis.

According to TuttoMercatoweb, Leeds are eyeing a move for the Benfica star as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Valued at £16.2million by Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old is also attracting the interest of Fulham.

A deal to sign the midfielder could prove to be particularly costly, however, with Portuguese outlet A Bola, via Sport Witness, claiming that Benfica value him at £37million.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would be an excellent move for Leeds United if they can pull it off.

Florentio Luis is one of the hottest prospects on the continent right now and appears like he's all-but certain to be playing at one of Europe's biggest clubs before long.

Renowned for his similarity to N'Golo Kante, Luis is bound to increase in value as his career progress.

However a £37million fee would be very steep for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Despite being described as 'a top, top class player' by his former coach Joao Tralhao, it may prove to be too much for Leeds to spend at this time.

But if they could negotiate a deal based on incentives or a loan deal with a view to buy, then this could prove to be a shrewd move.
