Tuscan Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton wins chaotic race which saw two red flags and 8 drivers crash out

The Tuscany GP was carnage from start to finish

Lewis Hamilton won a chaotic Tuscan GP on Sunday afternoon, which saw red flags force two stoppages, while EIGHT drivers fail to finish the race.

The carnage began within seconds of the first lap when Carlos Sainz span out and Max Verstappen went into the gravel, ending the latter's race before it had even started.

It's the second consecutive race that the Red Bull driver has failed to finish, but this was a rather frustrating afternoon for more than one driver.

You can see Verstappen's early exit below:

Sainz was involved in the second major incident, which saw a massive pile-up involving four cars on lap 7.

At the front of the pack, Valtteri Bottas left it to the last moment to speed off once the safety car disappeared, but those behind him were already racing and had nowhere to go.

Antonio Giovinazzi, Nicholas Latifi, Kevin Magnussen and Sainz were all involved in the crash, which you can see below:

Thankfully, all drivers walked away unharmed and the race restarted after a long delay to clear debris off the track.

But the chaos wasn't over yet. A second red flag and stoppage came after Lance Stroll - who was in fourth - crashed out.

After suffering a puncture, his car smashed into the wall at high speed. Thankfully, he walked away uninjured. You can see that moment below:

Amid all the incidents, Hamilton and Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas were battling it out for first-place.

After losing his pole position on the first lap, Hamilton fought back to regain it on lap 10 and held on for the rest of the race - despite Bottas coming close at the very end.

While the incredibly chaotic Tuscan GP saw eight drivers crash out, fans were greeted by the familiar sight when Hamilton crossed the finish line in first.
