Fans of Conor McGregor are now starting to worry about the Irish UFC star after a recent tweet of his was deleted.
The former UFC lightweight champion took to Twitter after being tagged in numerous posts about his recent arrest for sexual assault and indecent exposure in the French island of Corsica.
McGregor tweeted: “I can’t go on like this man. I am crushed here.”
This was subsequently deleted, but not before it was screenshotted by concerned fans.
The tweet was in response to a BBC Sport article posted on Twitter which labelled the Dublin native as ‘English’.
A user then responded to the story saying: “They can have him; the BBC is correct @TheNotoriousMMA (Conor McGregor) is English.”
McGregor then penned the tweet saying he was crushed before firing another one back at the Twitter user, who has been advocating suicide prevention.
McGregor tweeted: “Suicide intervention yet ridiculing me in this manner online, at this horrendous time in my life. I am trying to stay strong for my kids and the people that rely on me and that love and support me. Thanks for the insults, hypocrite.”
This tweet has also been deleted.
McGregor has recently spent the last few weeks in Corsica with his fiancee Dee Devlin. The retired fighter has since been released from police custody in relation to his arrest on September 6 in the town of Calvi in Corsica.
He is now waiting for ‘key physical test results’ which were conducted during his time in custody. This will determine whether or not he would be re-arrested.
The Irishman was supposed to be participating in a 180km marathon endurance alongside Princess Charlene of Monaco. This was to raise awareness of water safety. He has now pulled out of the event which began a couple of days ago.
One of McGregor’s representatives has released a statement to the website TMZ in which said McGregor “vigorously denied any misconduct.”
