This new-look Chelsea have got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start.Frank Lampard’s side travelled to Brighton and won 3-1 - although they would have been slightly disappointed with their overall performance.Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech were all deemed not ready to play although there were starting debuts for Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.Havertz had a fairly quiet evening, going viral for a terribly misplaced place in the second half.But Werner was more lively and played a big role in Chelsea’s opening goal.After Brighton’s Steven Alzate gave the ball away, Jorginho played in Werner. The German rounded goalkeeper Matt Ryan, who brought him down inside the penalty area. Jorginho stepped up and sent Ryan the wrong way to get Chelsea’s season up and running.Goals from defenders Reece James and Kurt Zouma sealed Chelsea’s win, after Leandro Trossard’s equaliser.But Werner was lively throughout and Frank Lampard was excited by his performance."I was really pleased with Timo, with Timo I know the qualities he's going to bring to the team," said Lampard."We saw that with the speed to win the penalty, and the moments where he showed his speed and his qualities as well. He's going to be a real threat, he's a very mobile centre forward who can do so many things for us."
However, it was a bit of a learning curve for the striker.After the game, Geoff Shreeves asked him how the Premier League differs to the Bundesliga and Werner gave a quite brilliant answer."I have never played against 3 defenders like this so tall, so big massive defenders!” he replied.
Brighton lined up with Adam Webster (6 ft 3 in), Lewis Dunk (6 ft 4 in) and Ben White 6 ft 1 in).

The £53 million was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before the Blues stole in. However, on Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher claimed he wouldn’t get in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
"Right now, he wouldn’t get in the Liverpool front three," Carragher said.
"Watching him for Leipzig, you think about how much he loves that left channel. For Liverpool, you think of the greatest striker in the Premier League in Thierry Henry - who used to favour that left-hand side.
"He can play left of the front three, but predominantly, he will be the central striker."
