Manchester United have high hopes for the season ahead.It's been a difficult few years for the Red Devils but since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as manager things have slowly started to improve.Last term was the Norwegian's first full season in charge of the club and with the shrewd additions of Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, they were able to enjoy a decent campaign.That saw them finish the season in third place in the Premier League, securing a spot in this season's Champions League in the process.But now the plan is to kick on even further.With Liverpool and Manchester City running way with the league last term, United will be hoping to close the gap on the title contenders.Solskjaer knows that he'll need an improved squad if that's to happen, and so he'll be encouraged to see the calibre of player that they're chasing.Donny Van de Beek has already arrived from Ajax, while reports have suggested that they are in talks over another major deal.
That is for Sergio Reguilon who is said to be a target.The Real Madrid man is out of favour at the Bernabeu but is attracting plenty of attention after an excellent campaign on loan with Sevilla last term where he won the Europa League while making 38 appearances for the club.Valued at £22.5million by Transfermarkt, United are keen to add him to Solskjaer's squad and according to Fabrizio Romano, talks are 'progressing'.
Romano tweeted: "Talks progressing between Manchester United/agents/Real Madrid [but not 100% agreed yet]."
This followed an update earlier in the day, which read: "Talks ongoing also tonight between Manchester United and Sergio Reguilon agents.
"Manchester United won’t accept the ‘buy back clause’ asked by Real Madrid but are seriously working on Reguilon as LB option."

This would be a great deal for Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are gradually rebuilding their team to add the required quality that they need in each position.
Sergio Reguilon would certainly fit the bill in that respect.
While Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams have done a decent job, the task is now to upgrade the first team so that they can compete with the top teams in the game.
With Romano discussing a £30million deal, it could be prove to be a move that offers excellent value for money and one that could bode well for the future.
